Family Day initiative for prisoners

Family Day Initiative for Prisoners

The programme is built on the recognition that, for somebody who has served a custodial sentence to return to a normal lifestyle, the relationship with his family must be preserved.

We have provided 44 living rooms for inmate-family encounters where they can feel at home in a private setting.

Global studies have consistently found that prisoners who maintain close contact with their family members while incarcerated have better post-release outcomes and lower rate of reoffending. With this in mind, we established the Family Day initiative for prisoners.

Family Day helps to maintain and preserve the relationship between the prisoner and his family while he is incarcerated.

To make this reunion possible, Community Jameel and the Briman prison management team in Jeddah work closely together to devise a suitable schedule

To make the day as special or ‘normal’ as it could be we provide 44 living rooms where the families can feel at home in a private setting.
